Usability Evaluation

Besides its clinical and ethical considerations, the action also emphasises the intuitive and user-friendly interaction with the system. Pursuing this, the consortium has already run the first usability study in a realistic piloting site where end-users within the target group were called to test home automation setups. The goal of the usability tests is to understand the need of the target group in order to guide subsequent technical work on human-machine interaction [D6.1].

The system will be evaluated at actual elderly care units and under realistic conditions at clinical partners’ premises, but two of the technical partners are also in the final stages of preparing technical testing and demonstration sites: a full-scale Smart Home apartment with multiple rooms nearby Technological Educational Institute of Western Greece and a Smart Room within the premises of NCSR “Demokritos”.
